In the 1960s and 1970s, during the colonial war, young Portuguese had to choose between war and cod fishery.
Through a contemporary voyage, on board the last Portuguese lugger– the Creoula –, three former fishermen tell of the reasons for their choices. They recall the seemingly endless six month stints in the frozen waters of Newfoundland, the harsh living conditions and the toils of their youth.
